Leipziger Messe has been innovative and open to change for more than 850 years. This trade fair location, which is also one of the world’s oldest, also has a long tradition of quality service and a commitment to its clients. Merchants and businesspersons are always welcome in our city.

During the last twenty years, Leipzig has been the starting point for more than 30 specialised and general trade fairs. No other German trade fair location can boast of more in-house developments in such a short time period. In addition, several established trade fairs have moved to Leipzig, while the city has also established itself as a hotspot of the international congress industry.

As one of Germany’s ten leading trade fair locations, every year the Leipziger exhibition grounds provide a customised communication podium to approximately 10,000 exhibitors and 1.3 million visitors from 50 countries. Leipzig as a trade fair and congress location has also become an established fixture in a globally competitive environment. Exhibitors and visitors alike value the professional and friendly Leipzig atmosphere.

Transportation

Leipzig is located in the heart of Europe. Leipziger Messe is easy to reach any way you choose – car, train, long-distance bus or by plane. And once in Leipzig, all roads lead to the trade fair.

The grounds are located right by the Autobahn, near the Schkeuditzer Kreuz (interchange). The Leipzig/Halle airport is only eight minutes by Autobahn. If you arrive at the Leipzig main train station with the ICE, you can take the regional train (Regionalbahn/RB) or the rapid transit train (S-Bahn Mitteldeutschland) to reach the “Leipzig Messe” stop in just six minutes. If you are coming from downtown, the tram will get to you the grounds in approximately 20 minutes.

CAR

The exhibition grounds are well marked, and you can reach the grounds quickly by taking the Autobahn:

  • A 14 – exit Leipzig Messegelände
  • A 9 Schkeuditzer Kreuz – ten minutes by car
  • A 38 Kreuz Parthenaue – ten minutes by car

The national highway Bundesstrasse 2 will take you from the exhibition grounds to downtown Leipzig in just ten minutes.

TRAIN

The trains of Deutsche Bahn are the environmentally-friendly way to get to the trade fair city of Leipzig. The main train station that connects to the ICE is located in the centre of the city, and is among the most modern and largest train stations in Europe.

The routes S1, S2, S5 or S5X of the S-Bahn Mitteldeutschland (rapid transit railway) take you directly to the Leipzig Messe train station (e.g. from Halle, Altenburg, Zwickau, Dessau, Bitterfeld). The S-Bahn routes S5 and S5x also take visitors from the Leipzig/Halle airport to the trade fair grounds in just a few minutes. At Leipzig’s main train station and at the City Tunnel stations of the S-Bahn Mitteldeutschland, travellers from all other directions can also access the routes S1, S2, S5 or S5X to the trade fair. Driving time from Leipzig’s main train station: 6 minutes, from Leipzig’s market place: 8 minutes. The distance between the exhibition train station and the exhibition grounds is approximately 750 metres.

Tram line 16 of the Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe stops in front of the main train station, and will also take you to the exhibition grounds in around 18 minutes – direction “Messegelände” (final stop).

Information regarding the connections to Leipziger Messe can be obtained from the schedule information service of the Deutsche Bahn and the Mitteldeutscher Verkehrsverbund and Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe.

PLANE

The Leipzig/Halle airport is located in the heart of Central Germany and is not far from Leipziger Messe: only eight minutes by Autobahn and eight minutes with the rapid transit train S 5, which leaves every 30 minutes.

Taxi stands are located right at the airport (Terminal B) and the West entrance of Leipziger Messe (between the Glass Hall and Messesee). The driving time between the exhibition grounds and airport is approximately 15 minutes, depending on the traffic volume.
